Your Review Help

Check each section before we generate your Will

This page summarises your answers and shows how they’ll appear in the legal document. Use it to spot gaps and make last-minute tweaks before you generate and sign your Will.

What do I see on this page?
  • Status icons β€” βœ… means we’ve captured required info; ❌ means something is missing or incomplete.
  • View Inputs β€” shows the raw answers you entered for that section.
  • View Legal β€” shows the formatted clause that will be inserted into your Will.
  • Edit β€” jumps back to that section so you can change details and return here.
How do I use the Review step effectively?
  • Work top-to-bottom. Open each section with View Inputs and View Legal to confirm the content.
  • Fix ❌ items first using Edit, then return to Review to re-check.
  • Be precise with names and relationships β€” they must match earlier steps (Applicant, Executors, Guardians, Beneficiaries).
  • For Gifts and Estate, ensure item descriptions are clear and percentages total 100%.
What should I double-check?
  • Applicant β€” full legal name (as per ID), DOB, NZ residential address, current email.
  • Declaration β€” age 18+, sound mind, acting freely; add Helpers only if someone assisted.
  • Executors β€” 1–3 executors, plus backup if possible; confirm willingness and contact details.
  • Guardians β€” list all children under 18 and add a backup guardian if appropriate; any special wishes are short and clear.
  • Beneficiaries β€” people and/or organisations use full legal names; β€œSpecify Other” completed when selected.
  • Gifts β€” item descriptions are specific; the correct beneficiary is selected from the dropdown (ID captured).
  • Estate β€” percentages add to 100%; conditions (Per Stirpes/Per Capita/No Substitution) reflect your intent.
  • Documents β€” confirm the documents you want generated (e.g., Will, Statement of Wishes).
Common mistakes to avoid
  • Percentages not totalling 100% on the Estate step.
  • Choosing β€œOther” relationship but not filling in Specify Other.
  • Gifts listed for a beneficiary, but the beneficiary wasn’t actually selected from the picker (no ID saved).
  • Witness or signing assumptions β€” witnesses are chosen at signing time and should not be beneficiaries (or their partners).
  • Typos in names or addresses that don’t match ID or official records.
Quick Questions
  • Do I have to fix every ❌? Yes β€” required fields must be completed to generate a valid will.
  • Why do β€œInputs” and β€œLegal” look different? Inputs are your raw answers; Legal shows the clause wording used in the document.
  • Can I change anything after generating? You can generate a new will with updated details; the latest signed version is the one that counts.
  • Who should witness my signing? Two adults present together at the same time who are not beneficiaries (and not the partner of a beneficiary).
