Frequently Asked Questions about the Review Step (NZ)

Use this FAQ to sanity-check each section before you generate your documents. For step-by-step guidance, see the Review Help Guide.

It’s a final checkpoint showing your inputs and the legal wording that will appear in the Will. Use it to spot missing info, typos, and mismatches before generating and signing.

✅ means required fields appear complete for that section. ❌ signals missing or incomplete information that needs fixing before you generate a valid will.

Yes. Resolve all ❌ items so the document compiles correctly and reflects your intent. Use Edit to jump back, update, then return to Review to re-check the status.

Inputs shows the raw answers you entered. Legal shows the formatted clause that will be inserted into your Will. Both should align; if they don’t, correct the source page and re-check here.

Click Edit on that card to return to the original step (Applicant, Executors, Guardians, etc.). Save/update there, then come back to Review to confirm the change in Inputs and Legal views.

Formatting and normalisation (e.g., structured dates, consistent labels) are applied to keep the Will clear and consistent. If wording doesn’t reflect your intent, change the original input and re-check Legal view here.

Open the Estate card and verify the Assigned/Total figures show 100%. If not, return to the Estate step, adjust percentages (use “Split equally” if helpful), then re-check here for a green tick.

Ensure full legal names (as on ID), correct relationships (and “Specify Other” if used), and accurate dates/ages. Keep spelling consistent across all steps so Gifts/Estate match the right people and organisations.

In the Gifts card, check each item has enough detail (make/model, IDs, location) and the correct beneficiary is selected from the dropdown (ID captured). Vague descriptions increase the risk of confusion later.

A specific gift that no longer exists usually fails and falls into the residue. Update your list or add a short fallback note before you generate if you want an alternative to apply.

Use Edit on the relevant card (Beneficiaries or Executors) to correct the entry, save, and then confirm the change in Review. Keep contact details current for smooth administration later.

Yes, but ensure addresses are complete and names render correctly in Legal view. If anything looks off, adjust the source input and re-check the preview here before generating the Will.

If you need to change anything, update the relevant section and generate a new will. The latest signed version is the one that counts; unsigned drafts can be replaced freely until signing and witnessing are complete.

Two adults present at the same time who are not beneficiaries (and not the partner of a beneficiary). Executors can witness, but a beneficiary witness risks affecting their gift — use independent witnesses instead.

After generation, download/print the PDF and follow the signing instructions. Keep the signed original safe and let your executors know where it’s stored. Consider giving them a copy for reference.

Refresh the page, re-open the section, and confirm the source step has saved inputs (look for green ticks there). If the issue persists, re-enter the affected details and try again from the Review page.
